Police are still searching for a man who is wanted on felony warrants for burglary.
At 11 a.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a man trespassing on wooded property located at 1290 Upper Nis Hollow Drive.
The man was observed working on a structure in the woods, and he fled when he was spotted.
Officers could only access the property by a trail using a Police SUV.
Mahoning Township Police arrived to find a structure being built on the side of Mahoning Mountain. The area was very steep, and rocky.
Officers found a structure under construction, a four-wheeler, homemade stove, tools, a cellphone, and another disassembled structure.
During a check of the area Officer Tyler Meek observed a man lying in the woods. Meek recognized the man as Mark Dacosta, 33 of Lehighton.
A warrant had been issued yesterday for Dacosta for a Burglary that occurred on Hemlock Drive in February 2015.
While attempting to surround Dacosta he fled down the mountain into a heavily wooded area on the south side of Route 443.
Steep terrain, and the remote location restricted additional officers responding from multiple agencies access to the immediate search area.
During the search a flower shop on Route 443 reported a man fitting Dacosta's description had crossed Route 443 and headed into Lehighton borough. Officers were unable to locate Dacosta in a search that lasted three hours.
Dacosta's charges are Burglary (Felony), criminal trespass (Felony), theft by unlawful taking or disposition (Misdemeanor) and receiving stolen property (Misdemeanor)
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
