CHICAGO (AP) - The Cook County medical examiner's office says a U.S. Army parachutist injured in the Chicago Air & Water Show has died.
Investigator Mario Johnson says that 32-year-old Corey Hood was pronounced dead just after 4 p.m. Sunday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He didn't have Hood's current hometown.
A spokeswoman for the parachute team, Donna Dixon, didn't return a message seeking comment Sunday.
Earlier, she told the Chicago Tribune (http://trib.in/1LfmuGW ) the parachutist had surgery to relieve pressure in his brain caused by a head injury and was in critical condition Sunday.
Authorities say he and another parachutist collided while performing a stunt Saturday. Witnesses said at least one of the men clipped the top of a high-rise apartment. The other man was treated for a broken leg.
