This weekend, area residents can enjoy food, music and games at the Nesquehoning Hose Company No. 1's Community Festival. The festival, located in the fire company's grove area at 953 E. Catawissa St., opens at 3 p.m. Saturday and noon on Sunday.

There will be homemade foods, including halushki, halupki, pierogies, wings, fresh cut fries, burgers, hot dogs, cheesesteaks and more, as well as activities for children and families. There will also be a Chinese auction in the fire company social hall and other community organizations set up on the grounds.On Saturday, DJ Don will perform from 4 p.m. and the band Mystery City takes the stage at 7:30 p.m.On Sunday, music by DJ Code Blue will begin at 1:30 p.m. A firetruck parade through the borough will take place at 4 p.m. Fire companies participating in the parade should be at the Nesquehoning VFW before 2 p.m. Judging begins at 2.Following the parade, the band County Line will perform from 5 to 9 p.m.
