Mathew Allen Gould of Lehighton graduated from boot camp, Parris Island, North Carolina, on July 10 with a "sharp shooter award."

His graduation was put on hold for a week having been bitten by a brown recluse spider.He will continue his combat training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina, for the next month, and then in Missouri for three months for his MOS training.Attending his graduation were his mother Julie Hawk, his sister Haley Hawk, grandparents Huck and Linda Gould, and grandparents Bruce and Vera Kramer.
