CCEDC plans local coupon book

Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corporation is looking for businesses interested in promoting the area while giving potential customers some good deals.

Marlyn Kissner, executive director of CCEDC, said the organization is currently planning a coupon book for the upcoming Christmas holiday. The book will contain coupons for services or free items at businesses that are interested in participating in the project."We want to get the message out to the businesses in Carbon County who want to be part of this book," Kissner said, noting that there is no cost to participate. "We are aiming to bring in tourists from outside the area because people want to eat, shop, play, hike and bike when they come to Carbon County, so we are looking to give people a little incentive to visit."Alice Wanamaker, member relations director for CCEDC, added that businesses that would like to participate but don't know what to do can contact the office and the staff will help find the best deal for that business."We can do anything," she said, noting that anyone from mom and pop shops to larger establishments can take part."We want to highlight the businesses in Carbon County," Kissner said.Karen Blankenbiller, owner of New Day Finds, is excited about this new opportunity and agrees with Kissner's thoughts."I believe it's going to be good for everybody, both the consumer and the businesses, due to the fact that we're trying to be proactive with trying to get people into the shops," Blankenbiller said. "Everyone is very receptive to this, and I think it's going to be a great thing for everyone. I'm excited for it. I have used the coupon books in the past."It's going to appeal to any consumer," she said.CCEDC is hoping to have the books ready for purchase in time for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday."It's going to be perfect timing to get people back in to shop before Christmas," Kissner said.Businesses can also purchase the books ahead of time at a discounted price to sell them in their stores as well to make a few dollars. To participate in the coupon book, businesses should call the CCEDC office at 610-379-5000.
