The American Red Cross will be at Wawa on Route 209 on Monday. Walk-ins are also welcomed.Stargazing nightThe West End Regional Park will be the site of a stargazing event on Saturday, with astronomer Rich Gebb guiding the event.Participants are asked to meet at the Chestnuthill Park Building in Brodheadsville by 8:15 p.m. they are asked to dress warm and bring a lawn chair, blanket and bug spray.The free program is recommended for adults and children ages 6 and older. Beverages are provided.School boardThe Pleasant Valley School Board will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday at the district's administrative offices in Brodheadsville.Mission tripThe Salem-St. Paul's Lutheran Church congregation in Kresgeville is excited about the five adults and eight youth who left Tuesday for the mission trip to Blue Knob, near Altoona. The group will be back on Saturday.On Sunday the church will hold a Thanksgiving in July with food offering, Holy Communion and the mission group sharing.At 10:30 it is time for Vacation Bible School with the theme: How People Worship. This day's look will be Judaism. At 12:15 is the VBS lunch with the church council.Monroe SeniorsThe Chestnuthill group of Monroe County Seniors will meet at Zion Lutheran on Friday and next Wednesday. On Tuesday it was a luncheon. A breakfast will be held from 8-10 a.m. Saturday. On Sunday a supper will be served from 3-4 p.m.Renewal bonfireOur Lady Queen of Peace will hold a Faith Renewal Bonfire for men of all ages from 7-10 p.m. Saturday on the church grounds. Food and water will be served.Chestnuthill supervisorsThe Chestnuthill Township Board of Supervisors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Chestnuthill Township Municipal Building on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.Fusion comingFusion, a Christian music family weekend, will be at Middlecreek Christian Church From July 31 through Aug. 2 with music, ministry, fun, food and much more.People are invited to camp out the entire weekend, bringing their own camping gear, or to come just for the day. The cost includes all entertainment, food, games, crafts and beverages. Friday night begins with dinner at 5 p.m. followed by music from REZ Music Ministry and SWiM, then a movie under the stars, concluding with a campfire Bible study.Saturday starts at 8 a.m. and includes breakfast, lunch, a pig roast dinner, games, crafts and face painting. Music on Saturday includes ONTY, Grace Notes Big Band, The Zepp Family Band, One Word, and testimonies and music by Teen Challenge.Teen Challenge is a Christ-centered, faith-based solution for youth, adults and families struggling with life-controlling problems, such as addiction. Also performing throughout the day will be Piercing Word, a Lancaster-based skit ministry which has been performing live Scripture across the country since 2007. The event location is 343 Dorshimer Road in Kresgeville.Growing enrollmentJim Ecker, missionary for BCM International in Monroe County, has had an increase of boys and girls enrolled in the released time Bible classes, saying the enrollment is the most in the past five years.The program was in seven Monroe public schools.In the Pleasant Valley School District there were 25 enrolled in two classes.Anyone wanting more information about the classes can contact Ecker at 570-421-9968.He and his puppeteers and the Gospel Puppets will be at the West End Fair from Aug. 23-29.Due to computer difficulties some of the information already sent to Adele Argot is unavailable and may be lost.Please send any news for the next two weeks to
