An Albrightsville man was charged by state police for raping a child.
According to state police at Fern Ridge, William Joseph Pedroza II, 41, was arrested in connection with a sexual assault that was reported to police on June 30.The parents of the 11-year-old female, as well as hospital staff at Pocono Medical Center reported the sexual assault.Pedroza was identified by the victim. He admitted to having intercourse with the child.He was charged with one count each rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, and aggressive indecent assault of a child, all felony one charges; and one count each indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age and corruption of minors, both felony three charges.Pedroza was arraigned before District Judge Edward Lewis, who set bail at $100,000. He is confined to Carbon County Correctional Facility after being unable to post bail.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 8.
