Flood warning extended to 5 a.m. Wednesday

The National Weather Service has extended the flash flood warning for Carbon and Monroe counties until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

At 9:26 p.m., additional showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain were over Central Pennsylvania and will be moving over the Poconos overnight. Radar estimates indicated around 4 inches of rain has already fallen over the Poconos with an additional one to two inches of rain in localized areas possible.

Flooding is ongoing and any additional rain will only exacerbate flood conditions.

Some locations that will experience flooding include: Lehighton, Mount Pocono, East Stroudsburg, Tobyhanna. Palmerton, Jim Thorpe, Nesquehoning, Wind Gap, Weatherly. Skytop, Christmans, Tannersville, Reeders, Mountainhome. Pocono Pines, Beltzville State Park, Echo Lake, Delaware Water Gap, Meckesville and Arrowhead Lake.
