The Jim Thorpe Area School Board adopted its 1962-63 budget, calling for a balanced budget with estimated receipts and expenditures of $447,180.

After the area board meeting, the Jim Thorpe Borough School Board adopted its budget, listing receipts and expenditures of $410,906. The budget retained the 40-mill tax rate, along with two $5 per capita taxes.In other area school board action, attorney W. Joseph Engler was renamed school district solicitor at a salary of $500 per year.
