The Sand Spring Lake Beach at Hickory Run State Park in Carbon County is closed to swimming because of high bacterial counts in a water sample taken June 15th, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

The beach will remain closed until acceptable water sample results are received, DCNR said.

Other activities at Hickory Run State Park, such as camping, picnicking, hiking, and fishing are proceeding as usual.
