Woman charged in lottery ticket theft

A Tamaqua woman has been charged in connection with the theft of lottery tickets from the Our Family Mini Mart, 401 W. Broad St., Tamaqua. The theft took place at 8:57 a.m. May 11.

According to the report, and the store's video surveillance, Kimberly Ann Brogdon, 41, of 327 Spruce St., Tamaqua, entered the store, went to the counter, leaned over and removed a stack of instant lottery tickets. She then turned and left the store. After checking, it was discovered she took 79 tickets, valued at $3 each.The theft was also reported to the Pennsylvania Lottery Commission, along with the serial numbers of the missing tickets. An investigation determined several winning tickets from that stack had already been redeemed: eight at the Fegley Mini Mart in McAdoo for a total of $56; and nine at the Turkey Hill in Rush Township for a total of $33.Video footage from both of those stores revealed the tickets were cashed in by Brogdon.She was charged with theft by unlawful taking and retail theft.
