Three people were seriously injured Sunday evening in a violent head-on crash alone Route 209 in Mahoning Township. The crash occurred at 6 p.m. near the intersection with Packerton Dam Road. The crash involved a pickup and a sedan. The injured were extricated from the wreckage by members of the Lehighton fire department. Due to the violent storms in the area at the time, no medicaltransport helicopters were able to fly. Patients were transportedby Lehighton paramedics to the Lehigh Valley Hospital TraumaCenter in Allentown. Mahoning Township Police are investigating the incident.
