A candidate for re-election to the Tamaqua Area School Board has died.

Robert W. Betz, 84, of East Broad Street, Tamaqua, died on Thursday in Coaldale.Betz, a longtime member of the board, was seeking another four-year term and is one of five names on the May primary ballot on Tuesday, seeking one of the five seats up for election.He cross-filed, seeking both nominations Republican and Democrat.
