Community bids farewell to fire chief

Emergency responders turned out Saturday morning to help a community say farewell to Quakake Fire Chief Scott Brill, who passed away May 6.

Firetrucks, ambulances, police cars and other emergency vehicles which took part included Ryan and Rush Township Police, the Schuylkill County Communications Center, Tamaqua Ambulance, Tamaqua Rescue, and fire departments from Nesquehoning (New Columbus), Delano, Quakake, McAdoo, West Penn Township, Coaldale, Ryan Township, Hometown, Walker Township (New England Fire Company) and Tamaqua.Brill, 49, Still Creek, joined the Quakake Fire Department in 1981 and had served as its chief since 1987.

LISA PRICE/TIMES NEWS The funeral procession for Scott Brill exited the Lamar Christ Funeral Home and traveled by the Hometown Fire Company, which had a farewell message for Brill. The procession went to the Quakake Fire Company, and then returned through Hometown to Sky-View Cemetery.
