Four defendants entered guilty pleas on Thursday in Carbon County court to driving under the influence.
Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted pleas from the following:Felicia M. Urbanski, 27, of Tamaqua, and formerly of Lansford, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2013, along Bertsch Street by Lansford police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance and a 0.05 BAC.Sentencing was deferred.Fernando Guzman, 52, of Bethlehem, was arrested on Sept. 20, 2014, along East Catawissa Street by Nesquehoning police. A test showed 0.15 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so Guzman could apply for placement in the Intermediate Punishment Program.Marie Ann Caruso, 50, of Summit Hill, was arrested on Sept. 29, 2014, by Kidder Township police along Moseywood Road in Lake Harmony. A test showed 0.23 BAC.A first offense, Matika placed her on probation for six months and ordered her to pay a fine of $300, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, render 25 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,500, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation, and enter an outpatient rehab program.Jerry Samuel Zemlan, 49, of Lansford, was arrested on Nov. 28, 2013, along Catawissa Street by Nesquehoning police. A test showed 0.27 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so Zemlan could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
