Carbon woman pleads to four drug counts; others also plead

A Carbon County woman entered guilty pleas to four drug counts on Thursday in the county court.

She was one of six to enter a plea to pending drug charges before Judge Joseph J. Matika.Sales to CIPatricia M. Wernett, 61, of Bowmanstown, pleaded guilty to four counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-oxycodone pills.Nesquehoning police set up buys with Wernett with a confidential informant at various locations in the borough on various dates.Most of the sales occurred in January and February, but there was also a sale in November 2014. She sold oxycodone tablets in quantities of eight to 10 pills and as high as 31 pills.Matika accepted the pleas but deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Other pleasOther defendants who entered guilty pleas to drug charges included:Jean Marie Strubeck, 50, of Parryville, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She also pleaded to retail theft.She was arrested on Sept. 15, 2014, by Mahoning Township police following an investigation into a retail theft incident at the Walmart store. Strubeck was involved in the reported theft, and when taken into custody the drug items were found on her.Matika placed her on probation for a year on each count, running concurrently, and ordered her to stay away from Walmart.Jonathan Patrick Feisel, 46, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on Sept. 4, 2014, by the vice unit of the state police at Hazleton for selling oxycodone at his residence. Charges related to the sale were dropped in a plea bargain.Matika placed him on probation for six months.Greg D. Vandermartin, 29, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on March 11, 2014, by Beaver Meadows police following a traffic stop along Berwick St. He was stopped for speeding, 48 mph in a 35 mph zone. The drug items were then found.He was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but his privileges had been revoked.Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a D&A evaluation, zero tolerance for D&A use, and render 50 hours of community service.Coty Dominick Frank, 22, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on Dec. 15, 2014, by Nesquehoning police in the 100 block of East Catawissa Street, during a vehicle stop.He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.Jonathan Bruce Honey, 24, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on Sept. 21, 2013, by Nesquehoning police following a traffic stop along Route 54. He was a passenger in thevehicle.Honey, who was scheduled to go on trial on Monday on the charge and other drug counts, was placed on probation for six months and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
