Committee wants to improve Lansford

Dear Editor:

As a concerned resident and taxpayer of Lansford I am making an appeal to all residents. The Events Committee, which has three main volunteers, is trying its best to change Lansford to a positive community.Due to lack of volunteers, event participation and financial support, they cannot have as many programs as they want.So far, the committee has put on the following events: Halloween Party, Christmas in the Park, Breakfast with Santa, and Music in the Park. All the events are free to the children.Sometimes they ask for a freewill donation from the adults.Financially, they raise money through fundraisers and once in a while kind and caring residents give a donation. In May, they are sponsoring a dinner for Lansford's hometown heroes. This dinner is free to Lansford veterans. To support this cause, there will be a special bingo to raisemoney. The Events Committee would like to accomplish a revitalization of Kennedy Park.Actually, Lansford needs a total revitalization. It takes time and money to achieve these goals.Lansford Alive has started changing the downtown area through a state grant. Maybe this is the first step to attracting new businesses and investors to Lansford. Kudos to everyone who made that possible! Lansford's future is starting to look brighter. Hooray. This letter is not to beg for money. I am asking residents to step forward and get involved for the betterment of Lansford. Please come forward and share your ideas. For example, crime is everywhere, so let us organize a neighborhood watch. Don't be afraid of reporting something. Residents, we need to take back our community and help one another.Let us work together to move our community forward. Let's get rid of the negativity and bring forth positivity. We do havekind and caring people in our community.Take a chance on Lansford. To those who have doubts about Lansford come out and help to make a difference in your hometown. To all those who have no doubt that Lansford's future is brightening and are willing to help, thank you.Generations for change!Marie OndrusLansford
