Carbon County's fund performs well

Carbon County's retirement fund performed well in February, officials report.

During the monthly meeting of the county retirement board on Thursday, Robert Crampsie, county controller and secretary to the retirement board, announced that the retirement portfolio value as of Feb. 28 was $76,001,441."February was an excellent performance month," he said, noting that it is up $2.6 million from the end of January.On Feb. 1, the portfolio value was $73,353,676, which was a loss of $1.3 million from the beginning of the year."What we lost in January we recouped and ended up gaining another $1.4 million on top of that," Crampsie said. "So far this year we have been back on the roller coaster."
