Guitarist Craig Thatcher, along with bassist/vocalist Wayde Leonard and drummer Don Plowman, will appear Saturday at the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe, featuring an explosive Cream tribute show.
The show will include all of Cream's greatest hits like "Sunshine of Your Love," "White Room," "Crossroads" and "Badge."The band also plays Cream's jams "Spoonful" "I'm So Glad" and "Toad."They pay homage to the world's first blues/rock/psychedelic super trio with this spectacular show.Cream was formed back in 1966 with Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. They introduced the concept of the power trio, which laid the foundation for the entire heavy rock genre. In their all-too-brief time together Cream changed the '60s music scene forever with four classic studio albums: Fresh Cream, Disraeli Gears, Wheels of Fire and GoodBye.Then Clapton, Bruce, and Baker would not reunite to perform again until 2005.Thatcher however, has helped fill the void, especially poignant with the recent passing of bassist and vocalist Jack Bruce, by creating this stunning tribute.Relive the days of the rock supergroup, Cream.Tickets are $23 and available on the opera house website at
www.mcohjt.com, by visiting SoundCheck Records in downtown Jim Thorpe or by calling 570-325-4009.Showtime is 8 p.m.The opera house box office is open from noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at 570-325-0249.The Mauch Chunk Opera House is located at 14 W. Broadway in Jim Thorpe. The venue is open from noon until 5 p.m. on show days, and tickets are available for most shows at the door at showtime.
