2 firefighters stable after aluminum ladder hits power line

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Two firefighters are reported in stable condition after their ladder came into contact with a high-voltage line in north Philadelphia.

Executive Chief Clifford Gilliam said the Philadelphia firefighters were called out at about 9:30 a.m. Monday for a minor blaze that they placed under control in less than 10 minutes.

But Gilliam says two members of the crew were taking down an aluminum ladder when it came into contact with the power line.

Both were taken to Temple University Hospital, where they were reported in stable condition with injuries that weren't life-threatening.

Gilliam said both victims were described as conscious and alert. Other information about the firefighters or the blaze wasn't immediately available.
