Gardening workshop

The Schuylkill County Master Gardener's program is offering two gardening workshops this month to residents of Schuylkill County.The first is all about the vegetable patch and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 25. Learn everything you need to know about seed starting, soil preparation and growing vegetables.A workshop on home fruit production will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on March 28 and will include tips on pruning to improve harvest, as well as disease and pest management. The types of fruit covered includes grapes, tree fruits, berries and brambles.Both workshops will be held at the Schuylkill County Ag Center Conference Room, 1202 Ag Center Dr., Pottsville.The programs are made possible through a joint collaboration of the Schuylkill County Conservation District and the Penn State Cooperative Extension.For more information, or to register, call (570) 622-4225, email

The free sessions are open to preschoolers between the ages of 2 and 6.This year's theme will be "Bursting Into Color."
