Coaldale man charged with DUI

Coaldale Police cited Jeremiah Franklin Kibler, 23, of 121 W. Phillips St., Coaldale, after a traffic stop on Feb. 21.

An officer on patrol saw a red Hyundai traveling at an excessive speed on Route 209 at 4:27 a.m. The vehicle was headed east at a high rate of speed, swerving across the double yellow lane, from lane to lane. The officer stopped the car in the area of Anthracite Street and identified the driver as Kibler.When asked for his driver's license, registration and insurance, Kibler kept trying to access his cellphone, telling the officer that's where his license was kept. After several attempts, and some coaching from the officer, Kibler found his driver's license in his wallet. He denied drinking any alcohol, even though he exhibited several signs of intoxication, including his breath.He was given, and failed, three field sobriety tests, then transported to St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus for blood tests.Results of the blood work indicate Kibler's blood alcohol content was 0.208 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and for disregarding the traffic lane.
