A Lansford man who Nesquehoning police said tried to sneak heroin into Carbon County Prison faces charges of possession of contraband, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Charges were filed Feb. 26 against John Charles Sabol, 52, of East Bertsch Street.During a strip search on Feb. 10, prison staff found a “suboxone strip” under Sabol's top denture and a capped needle, containing heroin, in the index finger of his left glove.Sabol, who was going to prison on a probation violation, told police he knew of the suboxone strip under his dentures, but denied knowledge of the needle.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 11 at 2 p.m. in front of Magisterial District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr.
