Helping the Wounded Warriors Project
CrossFit TC Unplugged and the Trinity Praise Band may be two completely different organizations with different purposes but when it comes to the United States of America and our veterans, they are joining together to form one brotherhood.
These groups want to honor and serve veterans when they need it the most, especially wounded veterans. To that end, they have created two fundraising activities to take place April 18, in the hopes of accumulating at least $5,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project. The CrossFit for Heroes work out is designed for all fitness levels and ages and will be less than 15 minutes long. Each team will have a way to accumulate points and get scored on the work it completes. They will form heats of four teams going at a time starting 9 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10 a.m., etc. Whether you live at the gym or never workout, you can be on a team of eight.Organizers are willing to visit local gyms to drop off posters and talk to any interested members. Contact them at the numbers provided below.Organizers are also encouraging coaches for community sports teams, as well as all others to form teams of eight. To be on a team you must donate $20 per person so each team brings in $160.Later that evening, starting at 7 o'clock, there will be the Coffeehouse for Heroes concert by the Trinity Praise Band, featuring lead singers Brian Hoffner and Becky McFadden. The concert will take place at Luther Hall, located inside Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St. in Lehighton. The band has been performing together for the past 12 years and has played several benefit concerts throughout that period. The coffeehouse will feature a casual atmosphere. The audience can stay for one song, one cup of coffee or the entire two-hour concert.Music includes contemporary Christian songs, but there will be a few pop songs spread throughout the concert. Baked goods, coffee and cooked foods are available for purchase. A freewill offering will be taken at the event. As with both benefits, 100 percent of the financial gifts will be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project. The project's vision is "To foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history."To accomplish this vision, organizers raise awareness and ask the public to help meet the needs of injured service members. CrossFit TC Unplugged and the Trinity Praise Band are committed to helping the Wounded Warriors Project achieve its vision. If you cannot make it to either event, you can contribute online at:
