A suspect has been arrested in the armed robbery of a Monroe County store that occurred earlier this week.

State police at Lehighton said John Joseph Myers III, 39, of Effort, has been charged in connection with the knifepoint robbery of Sunny's Express Mart, located at 458 Interchange Road in Kresgeville.The robbery occurred about 2:52 p.m. on Tuesday.At the time of the incident troopers said a white male entered the store and demanded money from the cashier while brandishing a knife. After receiving the money from the register, the man fled the store.Troopers said Myers was apprehended without incident on Thursday at an establishment along Route 115.He was charged with various criminal counts and lodged in the county prison in Snydersville in lieu of bail.
