Defendants sentenced for drunken driving

Two defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced on Tuesday in Carbon County court.

Judge Steven R. Serfass presided.William Joseph Gullick, 47, of Palmerton, was sentenced to serve two days in jail followed by five months and 28 days in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program. The 28 days will be with electronic monitoring.He was also ordered to render 25 hours of community service.Gullick was arrested on Sept. 25, 2014, along Delaware Avenue by Palmerton police. Given a test, the result was 0.11 BAC.He will begin the jail term at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 27.Anthony Joseph Ditroia, 33, of Jim Thorpe, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in prison, pay a fine of $400, one-year license suspension, and render 25 hours of community service. On a possession of a small amount of marijuana charge he was fined $300.Ditroia was arrested on Sept. 26, 2014, along Maury Road in Penn Forest Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was 0.14 BAC.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on March 6.Suspension chargeKelly S. Neff, 46, of Palmerton was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison on a charge of driving under suspension.Neff was arrested by Palmerton police on Jan. 10, 2014 along Mauch Chunk Road. She has five prior driving under suspension convictions.She was also fined $1,000. She will begin the jail term on March 6 at 4 p.m. and serve it on consecutive weekends.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,500, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
