3 Coaldale residents cited in disturbance

Three Coaldale residents were cited by Tamaqua Police on Jan. 17 following an argument.

Police were dispatched to Freddy's Pub on Mauch Chunk Street at 1:20 a.m. for a disturbance. As officers approached, they could clearly hear raised voices coming from a group on the sidewalk. As they tried to get information from everyone involved, Tina Fairchild, 41, of 250 W. Ridge St., Coaldale, continued yelling and screaming at her husband, Troy Fairchild, 42. She refused the officer's request to remain calm.In addition to the Fairchilds, two other people were on the sidewalk, David Ems of Coaldale and Joseph Bennett of Tamaqua.Ems told the officers that he and Bennett were in the bar when the Fairchilds began arguing with each other. He told them to shut up, which prompted Troy to walk over and punch him in the face. The two men began wrestling on the floor until another man broke up the fight. Ems, Bennett and the Fairchilds were ejected from the establishment.Once outside, Mrs. Fairchild walked over to Ems and kicked him in the leg. That's when police arrived.Ems had blood streaming from his ear, where an earring had been ripped out. There were also marks on his stomach. He transported himself to St. Luke's Hospital-Coaldale campus, where he was treated for a fractured bone in his hand, abrasions and a concussion.Mrs. Fairchild continued yelling and screaming while the officers were taking statements, to the point that officers were unable to understand her side of the story. Her husband said the couple was in the bar when Ems began "hitting on all of the women," including his wife. His version said Ems started the fight.Ems and Mrs. Fairchild were cited for harassment and disorderly conduct. Mr. Fairchild was cited for simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.
