Polar Plunge is Saturday

There is still time to sign up to plunge during St. Joseph Regional Academy's second annual "Be Cool for Our School" Polar Plunge. The fundraiser to raise money for the operation of the school will take place Saturday at Mauch Chunk Lake in Jim Thorpe.

Registration is $35. Anyone who has not yet registered but would like to plunge, or be a chicken, can either preregister today or register Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m.The first polar plungers will make their way into the icy lake beginning at 11 a.m.The event will also feature Amanda Salovay, the principal of St. Joseph's, as one of the "premier plungers." Salovay promises to plunge if enough pledges are made to meet their fundraising goal of $10,000.St. Joseph Regional Academy, located on Sixth Street in Jim Thorpe, is a Pre-K-8 Catholic school that teaches Christian values and emphasizes academic excellence and community service.To preregister or obtain information, visit
