Woman charged with stealing jewelry from fatal crash scene

A Carbon County woman has been charged with theft and related offenses for an incident at a fatal crash scene.

State police at Lehighton have charged Amanda Marie Everitt, 24, of Palmerton, with removing a silver and ruby necklace that was placed at the scene of a fatal traffic accident. The accident occurred along Dairy Road, four tenths of a mile east of Fireline Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, on Dec. 19, 2014. Four teens were killed in the crash.Troopers said Everitt attempted to sell the necklace on Craig's List and Facebook. The family of one of the teens killed in the crash observed the accused's pictures and description of the necklace and arranged to meet Everitt and buy it.The necklace was retrieved by troopers. Everitt charged with theft, receiving stolen property and unsworn falsification to authorities.
