For Lansford police, 2014 was a busy year.
A report presented by Lansford Mayor James Romankow during a meeting of Lansford Borough Council indicated the police responded to 8,121 calls during the year.Of them, 623 calls were for information and 661 were to assist individuals. A total of 445 responses were mutual aid calls to either other police departments or other law enforcement agencies.Some of the most numerous complaints were:• Sexual assault 22 complaints.• Burglary, business 5 calls.• Burglary, residential 46 complaints.• Hit and run accidents 34.• Criminal mischief 70.• Domestic problems, non-arrest 142.• Domestic problems resulting in arrest 18.• Drug complaints 102.• Drug investigations 21.• Drug law violations 20.• Drug overdoses 10.• Emotionally disturbed persons resulting in commitment 38.• Fight complaints 27.• Follow ups 687.• Forgery/counterfeiting 2.• Fraud 10.• Harassment 245.• Identity theft 4.• Missing person, adult 8.• Missing person, juvenile/runaway 14.• Noise complaints 59.• Parking complaints 153.• Protection From Abuse, active 40.• Protection From Abuse, dismissed 7.• Protection From Abuse, violations 22.• Power outages 29.• Robbery 7.• Subpoena service 58.• Suspicious activity 188.• Theft of vehicles 2.• Other theft 185.• Traffic arrests other than DUI 137.• DUI arrest 11.• Traffic warnings 253.• Abandoned vehicles 40.• Vehicle repossessions 5.The department is headed by Officer in Charge Jack Soberick.Former Chief of Police John Turcmanovich resigned last May 1, but was out for several months before that for health reasons during which time Soberick was in charge.
