Our Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, announces that the school will celebrate Catholic Schools Week Jan. 25 through 31.
A schoolwide service project to aid the victims of a recent local fire will kick off this year's observance at the school.The event is part of the nationwide celebration of Catholic education. This year's theme is "Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service." It highlights the emphasis Catholic education puts on academic excellence, faith development, and community service.Our Lady of the Angels Academy will hold an open house for prospective students, their families and community residents from noon to 2 p.m., on Sunday. Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about programs for preschool to eighth grade.Kindergarten and new student registrations will take place at this time.Beginning on Monday, opportunities to register will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Parents are asked to contact the school office if another time is needed.During the week students will enjoy a luncheon with a special friend, as well as attending a school wide presentation featuring animals from the Carbon County Environmental Center.Veterans will be honored when they come to visit and retell their part of history to our students. Students will also make gifts to be sent to members of the military serving our country.Looking toward the future, students will be asked to dress in clothes depicting the career they would like to follow when they get older. Parents and community members will share information about their different careers with the students throughout the day.During Catholic Schools Week, and throughout the year, Our Lady of the Angels is always open to share the programs it offers and what the students have accomplished.
