Mahoning Township police have charged an Effort woman with retail theft and drug offenses.
Jessica Bing, 24, and an unidentified male filled a shopping cart with $582.39 worth of merchandise at the Walmart store in Mahoning Township at 4:27 p.m. Oct. 19, then left the store with it, according to township Police Chief Audie Mertz.The two were stopped by the store's loss prevention employees as they loaded the items into a car.The male fled before police arrived. A search of the car found $924.31 worth of power tools that had been stolen from Lowe's, also in Mahoning Township.Police also found wax packets consistent with the type used for drug packaging. Bing was charged with misdemeanor retail theft, receiving stolen property, and possession of drug paraphernalia for the Walmart offense. Charges are pending for the stolen tools.
