Elm Street is coming to Tamaqua's South Ward, along with an opportunity for development.

That neighborhood is the recipient of $25,000 in grant funding as part of the commonwealth's New Communities Elm Street Program.The funding, which includes a $22,500 planning grant, will lead to the completion of a Neighborhood Improvement Plan that is expected to spur the investment of $335,000 in projects in the South Ward over the next five years.
