Update on Magic Kingdom-North

Dear Editor,

For the 200th celebration I photographed North Walnut Street so in 50 years everyone can see what a historical theme park looked like. Then I went to Old Kern's Lumber Yard on Cherry Street and recorded video of the Magic Kingdom Headquarters with all the dilapidated and abandoned vehicles not in motion! This part of the Kingdom is owned by Councilman Reed. The hours of operation are not posted. This ride has been closed for years. The bus on Ziegler's property is full of baggage but no passengers. The borough should make sure the bus is painted a color to fit into the park's decor. Lehigh Parkway has Xmas lights with a car tour, yet Slatington's park only has daylight hours.Maybe the borough should enforce park officials (code enforcement personnel) to be more efficient and not only walk and chalk tires on Main Street, as these vehicles belong to guests touring the theme park.Too bad Rink's variety store is closed, as many tourists are seeking refreshments. Maybe I should say "Grubb" by leaving the word fresh out.Jon Rinker wants to make Springside Fire Company a museum. There is more to this gem than just under a roof. There he is trying to establish a new attraction with no parking, and why would taxpayers pay for this addition to the theme park?We need another grant to install outhouses at various locations as the sewer plant is not operating at speed. The outhouse attendants need not apply, just attend a council meeting and the employees for these positions are on display. Also, the illustrious council wants to charge a head tax for the community center. Why would Walnutport and Washington Township want to even get involved with Slatington? These two municipalities should distance themselves from the evil-rooted council. Watch out, the borough will snow you with words. They show no mercy and cannot handle finances properly, as they are still trying to juggle 2013 figures. So you know they will hide information from you. Just look what they do to their own residents. The old ACME store was to be purchased and a community center would be up and functioning today. Their response (community center) was we want a new building. Nineteen years later this gem is still not under operation. I know, I served on the original board.People ask all the time, "What's wrong with Slatington?" The answer in one word, COUNCIL!Ron Scheffler
