What type of precipitation or how much has yet to be agreed upon.Various weather services differ greatly on the impending storm that will impact the region and the East Coast.National Weather ServiceThe National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Carbon and Monroe counties.According to the NWS in Mount Holly, New Jersey, "a nor'easter will force very hazardous travel and potential power outages Tuesday and Tuesday night from heavy, wet snow accumulations across the Poconos and other portions of eastern Pennsylvania into New York state."The warning is in effect from 3 a.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday and calls for at least four to eight inches of heavy, wet snow with a trace of ice mixed in. Heaviest accumulations should occur in the western portion and higher elevations of both counties. The weather event is forecast to start just before sunrise and continue throughout the day.For Schuylkill, the NWS winter weather watch says that there is the potential of heavy snow and light freezing rain. Accumulations of six inches or more of snow and up to a tenth of an inch of ice are possible Tuesday into Wednesday.For Lehigh and Northampton counties, there is no winter storm watch even in effect, only a hazardous weather outlook, stating that snow and sleet are possible in the morning before changing over to rain and snow with little to no accumulation.AccuWeatherAccuWeather is downplaying the storm for Carbon and Monroe counties, forecasting morning rain, followed by rain and snow showers in the afternoon with little to no accumulation.According to AccuWeather's map, the Times News coverage area will get one to three inches of snow at most.One thing that both weather services agree on is the storm will linger longer than the Northeast would like, causing snow showers and gusty winds throughout Wednesday before it finally pushes north.WNEPWNEP meteorologist Joe Snedeker's forecast differs again, calling for the storm to begin as a mix of snow/sleet and rain late tonight into Tuesday morning.The mix will continue through the afternoon before changing over to all snow Tuesday evening and overnight into Wednesday.By the time the snow ends Wednesday evening, Snedeker says that five to 10 inches are possible.Weather ChannelThe Weather Channel is also calling for mostly a rain event in the region, with the storm beginning overnight as a wintry mix before changing over to all rain by 7 a.m.Rain is forecast to change over to snow late Tuesday night and last into Wednesday.
