A Schuylkill County man was shot and also assaulted with a stun gun in a home invasion that occurred on Friday.
State police at Frackville said troopers responded to the home of Daniel Close, 48, of 121 Condor Lane, Pottsville, Cass Township, at 10:23 a.m. to a report of a home invasion/robbery.On scene troopers found Close had been shot in the right thigh area. Before the victim was transported by medical helicopter he told troopers a white man knocked on his door and when he answered the man forced his way into the home.The man then physically assaulted Close and used a stun gun and dry stunned the victim multiple times. The man then shot Close in the leg. During the assault the man kept demanding money.A short time later a second white male entered the home. The two then continued to threaten Close. Close then provided the two with a large sum of money, troopers said.Close was then tied up and the two men fled the scene.Close was flown to the Reading hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Close was interviewed at the hospital by Troop L Major Case Team members. Troopers were also assisted by Minersville and Foster Township police and medical units from Minersville and Pottsville.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at 570-874-5300.
