The Battlefield Band, masters of Celtic music, both ancient and modern, will perform at the Mauch Chunk Opera House, 14 W. Broadway in Jim Thorpe Friday. Show time is 8 p.m.

The Battlefield Band is recognized in its native Scotland in the same way the Chieftains are revered in Ireland. They have appeared multiple times with Garrison Keillor on his A Prairie Home Companion radio show, which is no small feat and a nod to their prodigious talent.Many feel that Celtic music has been too influenced by rock, pop and other contemporary trends, but not with the Battlefield Band.
