A woman is dead following a violent head-on crash Monday afternoon along Route 248 just west of Cherryville in Northmapton County.

The crash involved a car and a pickup truck with both vehicles coming to rest down an embankment.Route 248 is closed and is expected to be closed until at least 5 p.m.There is no word on any other victims. Lehigh Township police are investigating the incident with the Northampton County coroner on scene.Fire police are maintaining traffic control at the scene.
