Two members of Tamaqua Borough Council and community leaders huddled with PennDOT representatives in an attempt to convince the state agency to proceed with a limited improvement to Route 309 traffic patterns and reinstall loops or grids to control the traffic light at Pine and Mauch Chunk streets.
Representing the borough were council President George Willing and George Wenzel, chairman of the parking and traffic committee, borough manager Donald Matalavage and Mayor Jerry Knowles. Also in attendance was Linda Yulanavage, representing the Tamaqua Merchants Association.
