A Carbon County man received a time-served sentence in the county court on Thursday on charges of criminal trespass and criminal attempt-theft.
Aaron Scott Jr., 23, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve one to 18 months on both charges with the terms running concurrent to each other. He was given credit for 32 days already spent in jail and a rehabilitation inpatient program on the charges and was paroled. He previously pleaded guilty to the charges. Burglary and other charges were dropped in a plea bargain.Scott was charged by Mahoning Township police for an incident on April 29 at the residence of Randy Bollinger, 257 Ashtown Road.Scott is currently on probation in Lehigh County and has a pending retail theft charge in Carbon County.Scott told the court he had a drug addiction problem to heroin and spent 17 days in rehab program. He said he started using drugs at age 11, but got into "very serious" drug use when he was 16.In addition to the jail term, Matika ordered Scott to make restitution of $2,429.66 (which is half of the total due since there is a co-defendant in the case), get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance for D&A use, supply a DNA sample, render 75 hours of community service, and have no contact with the victim. He must also pay court costs, which average about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.
