An inmate at the state correctional institution at Frackville, 1111 Altamont Blvd., Ryan Township, has been charged with assaulting two correctional officers at the prison.

State police at Frackville said Michael John Scullen, 22, has been charged with aggravated assault and two counts each of assault by prisoner, simple assault and harassment.According to troopers, Scullen assaulted Joseph Lynch and Mitchell Sarkowski at 1:40 p.m. on Sept. 8. Lynch sustained a broken nose that required surgery and contusions while Sarkowski sustained contusions in the incident.
