Tamaqua Area High School Class of 1964 gathers for 50-year reunion

The 50th anniversary reunion of the Tamaqua Area High School Class of 1964, was held Sept. 7 at Capriotti's in McAdoo.

The invocation was offered by the Rev. Robert Smith. Master of ceremonies Theodore Hafer welcomed the 84 classmates and guests present. The class toast was given by Richard Arculin and the Rev. Franklin Schock offered the benediction.The 35 deceased classmates were remembered including 12 since the last class reunion: Robert Whitley, James Kerr, Larry Dabravalskie, Diane (Neff) Hewitt, Irene (Comisac) Davis, Edward Paperman, Joy Ann (Light) Kachelries, Jacquelin (Blair) Kunkel, Thomas Hoppes, Charlotte (Reiber) Gehring, Regina (Bubel) Bowers and Allen Breiner.Recognition was given to those class members who have attended every reunion. They are: Richard Arculin, Sam Bennage, Sharon (Callans) Steager, Loretta (Derr) Gilfert, Robert Donald, David and Gayle (Jones) Hadesty, Theodore Hafer, Thomas and Toni (Andrukitis) Jones, Larry Kellet, Mary (Koch) Geschel, Helen (Lohenitz) Linkevich, LeeAnn (Neuroth) Tomchick, Gladys (Simek) Polgar, Jacquelyn (Titus) Shafer, and Eileen (Zehner) Meiser.Prizes were awarded during the evening including the classmate traveling the longest distance, Victoria (Fegley) Hinkel of Graham, Washington. First time reunion attendance awards were presented to: Lou Jean Cooper, Mary Ann (Gallagher) Rowlands, Anna Marie (Lohenitz) Lileck, Michael McFarland, Blair Miller, Vernon Moyer and William Rodgers.Members of the reunion committee were: Thomas and Toni (Andrukitis) Jones, Diane (Hartung) Ronitz, Theodore Hafer, David and Gayle (Jones) Hadesty, Eileen (Zehner) Meiser, William Henry, Gladys (Simek) Polgar, Janet Keich, Penny (Krause) Sestakauskas, and LeeAnn (Neuroth) Tomchick.The class plans to celebrate its 55th reunion in 2019.
