Hard working, dedicated, and a strong sense of humor.
David Dailey Sr. has embodied those traits for as long as anyone can remember.Unfortunately, times have changed, and at present, Dailey, of Palmerton, is dealing with dementia. But, that didn't stop him from being recognized for all of his contributions to the community.During the opening ceremony at the 25th annual Palmerton Community Festival on Friday, festival committee secretary Jane Stroup told those in attendance that she learned a lot from Dailey in her years on the festival committee with which he served."The thing I most appreciated about Dave is he had one huge sense of humor," Stroup said. "Although I really miss that, I know Dave would want us to keep plugging on, keep going on."Stroup presented members of Dailey's family with a plaque for the many years of dedicated service he has given to the festival and the community.Dave's son, Dave Dailey Jr., said the festival was "a tribute to the great community.""You have such a wonderful community of volunteers, wonderful business people, that really defines us as a community," Dailey said. "My father would have appreciated the recognition you gave him today."
