Tamaqua police have cited a juvenile following an incident in the borough on Aug. 28.
The officer observed a group of juveniles crossing Railroad Street, going from the Tamaqua Community Ambulance parking lot to the parking lot at Tommy's Italian Specialty Shop. One approaching motorist honked the horn, causing one of the group to stop abruptly. One of the other kids, an 11-year-old female, ran back into the street, cursing and making obscene gestures. The officer explained to the girl that her reaction was inappropriate, she was crossing the street illegally and would have been the one at fault if she had been hit by a car.He then contacted the girl's mother and cited the juvenile for disorderly conduct due to her behavior.
