Another legend of the No. 9 Mine in Lansford was unveiled Sunday during the No. 9 Labor Day Picnic. Robert Reese Jr. helps artist Renee Novak Mariotti hang a 6-by-9-foot canvas featuring a miner's image done in oil stick, one of several Mariotti has created. TheLansford artist bases her renderings on a book of published works by the late photographer George Harvan, a friend of the Novak family.
