AMMA, W.Va. (AP) – Altered fireworks, weapons, live chickens and marijuana were found inside an SUV that wrecked Friday on Interstate 79 in West Virginia, and a Pennsylvania man was arrested, police said.
A criminal complaint in Roane County Magistrate Court charged Seth Grim, 21, of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a felony.State police spokesman Lt. Michael Baylous said other charges were pending following the accident in Roane County about 3:30 a.m. Friday. Grim was being held in the South Central Regional Jail on $25,000 bond. No hearing was immediately set.Baylous said he didn't know how the fireworks were altered, adding, “We're taking precautions to make sure the public and our officers are safe.”Emergency services officials in Roane County said the overturned Ford Explorer sent more than 30 chickens loose along the highway. Baylous said he didn't know the fate of the chickens, how many weapons were found in the vehicle or their type.The SUV was the only vehicle involved in the crash that closed I-79 in both directions near Amma for more than four hours. According to court records in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, Grim was arrested Aug. 6 on charges of failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.
