Rush Township Police are investigating an armed robbery at the RadioShack Store at HT Commons Shopping Center, 45 Plaza Drive, Hometown.
According to police, two men, one brandishing a handgun, entered the retail store at 10:45 a.m. Monday, bound the male employee with tape and left him in a back room.The men took an undetermined amount of electronic merchandise from the store.Both males were wearing baggy jeans, sweatshirts and winter-type hats, according to Rush Township Police Sgt. Duane Frederick.One of the males also had dreadlocks.The men are believed to have used a vehicle parked behind the store in the vicinity of Spare Time Bowling Alley.RadioShack store manager Phil Majewski was unavailable for comment.Anyone with information on the Hometown RadioShack robbery is asked to contact Frederick at 570-668-4242 or 570-668-6100.The Hometown incident was the second armed robbery in about 12 hours, the other occurring just 10 miles north.On Sunday at 10:25 p.m., a man armed with a handgun entered and robbed KFC on East Broad Street in Hazleton.That suspect is described as a dark-skinned man wearing a ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, according to police. He is believed to be about 5 feet 10 inches tall and was carrying a backpack.No KFC employees were injured.Anyone with information on the Hazleton robbery is asked to call Hazleton police at 570-459-4940.
