Schuylkill driver leads police on chase, crashes, then jailed

A Schuylkill County driver led police on a chase early today eventually crashing her vehicle into a tree and is now facing numerous drug and related charges.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident began about 2:40 a.m. at the intersection of Second and Russell streets, in Saint Clair where a Dodge Dakota pickup truck failed to stop for a steady red light. Troopers attempted to stop the truck but the driver fled, traveling through numerous intersections in Saint Clair without stopping at stop signs and failing to use turn signals.The driver then turned onto the Burma Road and left the borough entering into Blythe Township. The driver eventually crashed the truck into a tree. The driver then exited the truck and began to flee on foot but was apprehended by troopers.The driver was identified as Ciera Zvorsky, 27, of Schuylkill Haven. Found on her was drugs and drug paraphernalia as well as inside the truck. Troopers said Zvorsky showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance and was placed under arrest. It was also learned that she had an active warrant for her arrest.Zvorsky was arraigned by on-call District Judge James Ferrier, of Orwigsburg, on charges including fleeing and eluding police, driving under the influence, and motor vehicle code violations, and the active warrant. Bail was set at $25,000 straight cash. Zvorsky failed to post bail and was placed in the county prison in Pottsville. Saint Clair police assisted troopers in the incident.
