The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that a roadway preservation project on Route 209 in Franklin and Towamensing townships, Carbon County, will begin today.
The project involves microsurfacing, which is the application of a layer of blacktop, and installing new pavement markings on Route 209 between Harrity Road in Franklin Township to Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township.The contractor plans to microsurface weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and paint lines for several hours at night after 7 p.m. Workers may work weekends if there is inclement weather during the week.All work is expected to be complete by Sunday, Aug. 31.Suit-Kote Corporation of Pittsburgh is the general contractor for the $277,573 project.
