Mahoning Township Police have charged a man who hit a woman in the stomach with a weed whacker.
The incident happened at 1:15 a.m. on June 2 and police this morning released the following information.
Police were dispatched to 150 Jamestown St and found Stacey Lawler of 144 Jamestown St., yelling that she smashed out her neighbor’s (Jennifer Diefenderfer) windshield because she was cheating with Lawler’s girlfriend.
Lawler also yelled that when she was parking her car she drove into the rear of the Diefenderfer’s car.
The two then got into a physical altercation hitting each other repeatedly. Police said.
Diefenderder told officers she was inside her home when she heard a loud banging noise coming from her porch. She went outside where she was struck in the stomach with the weed whacker by Lawler. Several neighbors reported seeing Lawler drive into the back of Diefenderfer’s car, then she struck the windshield of Jennifer’s car with a weed whacker several times.
A records check showed that Lawler has a suspended license.
Diefenderfer’s vehicle sustained $983.72 in damage.
Lawler has been charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, harassment, driving nnder suspension.
Diefenderfer has been charged with harassment.
A preliminary hearing for Lawler is scheduled on Aug. 20.
